1 | | AN ACT concerning education.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 14-17 as follows: |
6 | | (105 ILCS 5/14-17 new) |
7 | | Sec. 14-17. COVID-19 recovery post-secondary transition |
8 | | recovery eligibility. |
9 | | (a) If a student with an individualized education program |
10 | | (IEP) reaches the age of 22 during the time in which the |
11 | | student's in-person instruction, services, or activities are |
12 | | suspended for a period of 3 months or more during the school |
13 | | year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the student is |
14 | | eligible for such services up to the end of the regular |
15 | | 2021-2022 school year. |
16 | | (b) This Section does not apply to any student who is no |
17 | | longer a resident of the school district that was responsible |
18 | | for the student's IEP at the time the student reached the |
19 | | student's 22nd birthday. |
20 | | (c) The IEP goals in effect when the student reached the |
21 | | student's 22nd birthday shall be resumed unless there is an |
22 | | agreement that the goals should be revised to appropriately |
23 | | meet the student's current transition needs. |
