1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 3-117.2 as follows:
|
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-117.2) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-117.2)
|
7 | | Sec. 3-117.2. Junk Vehicle Notification. Beginning July 1, |
8 | | 1989 a
person licensed as a scrap processor or automotive |
9 | | parts recycler pursuant to Section 5-301 of this Code
who |
10 | | acquires a properly assigned Certificate of Title, a Salvage
|
11 | | Certificate, a Certificate of Purchase, or a similarly |
12 | | acceptable
out-of-state document of ownership pursuant to |
13 | | Section 5-401.3 of this
Code, shall within 15 days of |
14 | | acquiring such document, submit it to the
Secretary of State |
15 | | along with a Junk Vehicle Notification, the form and
manner |
16 | | for which shall be as prescribed by Secretary of State rule or
|
17 | | regulation. A scrap processor or automotive parts recycler who |
18 | | acquires the above named documents of
ownership pursuant to |
19 | | Section 5-401.3 shall not be required to apply for or
obtain a |
20 | | junking certificate. The information contained on a
Junk |
21 | | Vehicle Notification shall be duly recorded by the Secretary |
22 | | of State
upon the receipt of such Notification. The Secretary |
23 | | of State shall not
again issue a Certificate of Title or |
