2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 3-645 as follows:
|
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-645)
|
7 | | Sec. 3-645. Vietnam Veteran License Plates.
|
8 | | (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the |
9 | | Secretary, upon
receipt of all applicable fees and |
10 | | applications made in the form prescribed by
the Secretary of |
11 | | State, may issue Vietnam Veteran license plates to residents
|
12 | | of Illinois who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by |
13 | | the Secretary of
State. Veterans who served in active duty |
14 | | status during the Vietnam war but were not deployed to Vietnam |
15 | | for combat are also eligible for Vietnam Veteran license |
16 | | plates. The special Vietnam Veteran plate issued under this |
17 | | Section shall be
affixed only to passenger vehicles of the |
18 | | first division, motorcycles, and
motor vehicles of the second |
19 | | division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds.
Plates issued |
20 | | under this Section shall expire according to the staggered
|
21 | | multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this |
22 | | Code.
