Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that veterans who served in active duty status during the Vietnam War but were not deployed to Vietnam for combat are eligible for Vietnam veteran license plates.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by |
| 5 | | changing Section 3-645 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-645)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 3-645. Vietnam Veteran License Plates.
|
| 8 | | (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the |
| 9 | | Secretary, upon
receipt of all applicable fees and |
| 10 | | applications made in the form prescribed by
the Secretary of |
| 11 | | State, may issue Vietnam Veteran license plates to residents
|
| 12 | | of Illinois who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by |
| 13 | | the Secretary of
State. Veterans who served in active duty |
| 14 | | status during the Vietnam war but were not deployed to Vietnam |
| 15 | | for combat are also eligible for Vietnam Veteran license |
| 16 | | plates. The special Vietnam Veteran plate issued under this |
| 17 | | Section shall be
affixed only to passenger vehicles of the |
| 18 | | first division, motorcycles, and
motor vehicles of the second |
| 19 | | division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds.
