Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that taxing districts, other than certain school districts, shall annually certify their levy on or before the third (currently, last) Tuesday in December. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 18-15 as follows:
|
6 | | (35 ILCS 200/18-15)
|
7 | | Sec. 18-15. Filing of levies of taxing districts. |
8 | | (a) Notwithstanding any other
law to the contrary, all |
9 | | taxing districts, other than a school district subject to the |
10 | | authority of a Financial Oversight Panel pursuant to Article |
11 | | 1H of the School Code, shall annually certify to the county
|
12 | | clerk, on or before the third last Tuesday in December, the |
13 | | several amounts that they
have levied.
|
14 | | (b) A school district subject to the authority of a |
15 | | Financial Oversight Panel pursuant to Article 1H of the School |
16 | | Code shall file a certificate of tax levy, necessary to effect |
17 | | the implementation of the approved financial plan and the |
18 | | approval of the Panel, as otherwise provided by this Section, |
19 | | except that the certificate must be certified to the county |
20 | | clerk on or before the first Tuesday in November. |
21 | | (c) If a school district as specified in subsection (b) of |
22 | | this Section fails to certify and return the certificate of |
23 | | tax levy, necessary to effect the implementation of the |
