3 | | on page 1, line 4, after "by", by inserting "changing Sections |

5 | | on page 1, immediately below line 5, by inserting the |
6 | | following:

8 | | Sec. 5-2. Governing board.
|
9 | | (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), the |
10 | | The school business of all school townships having school |
11 | | trustees shall
be transacted by three trustees, to be elected |
12 | | by the qualified voters of
the township, as hereinafter |
13 | | provided in subsection (c) . |
14 | | (b) The school business of Lyons Township shall be |
15 | | transacted, as provided in subsection (c), by 4 trustees, to |

1 | | be elected by the qualified voters of the township, and 3 |
2 | | trustees who shall be appointed by the school boards of the |
3 | | school districts that comprise the majority of land within |
4 | | Lyons Township, as follows: |
5 | | (1) one trustee who is appointed by the school boards |
6 | | of Argo Community High School District 217, Summit School |
7 | | District 104, Willow Springs School District 108, and |
8 | | Indian Springs School District 109; |
9 | | (2) one trustee who is appointed by the school boards |
10 | | of Lyons School District 103, La Grange School District |
11 | | 102, and La Grange School District 105 South; and |
12 | | (3) one trustee who is appointed by the school boards |
13 | | of Pleasantdale School District 107, LaGrange Highlands |
14 | | School District 106, and Western Springs School District |
15 | | 101. |
16 | | (c) The trustees shall be a body politic
and corporate, by |
17 | | the name of "trustees of schools of township No. ....,
range |
18 | | No. ....," according to the number, or in case of school |
19 | | townships
created from two or more congressional townships, |
20 | | such name shall be
"trustees of .... township .... county, |
21 | | Illinois." Such corporation shall
have perpetual existence, |
22 | | with power to sue and be sued, and to plead and
be impleaded, |
23 | | in all courts and places where judicial proceedings are had.

1 | | Sec. 5-4. Election of trustees. The election of trustees |
2 | | of schools shall be held in odd-numbered years
at the election |
3 | | specified in the general election law. In townships in which
|
4 | | no election for school
trustees has been held, or in townships |
5 | | in which from any cause there are
no trustees of schools and |
6 | | the law requires that there be school trustees,
the election |
7 | | of trustees of schools shall be held at the same
time.

8 | | No person shall be nominated for the office of trustee of |
9 | | schools, in townships
containing 20,000 inhabitants or over, |
10 | | except by petition signed by at least
5% of the total amount of |
11 | | twenty-five voters of the school township in which the person |
12 | | he is seeking nomination
and election who last cast votes in |
13 | | the most recent election, filed with the township
treasurer, |
14 | | or, in case of a first election, with the county clerk.

15 | | A candidate for election as a school trustee, who has |
16 | | petitioned for nomination
to fill a full term and to fill a |
17 | | vacant term to be voted upon at the same
election, must |
18 | | withdraw his or her petition for nomination from either the
|
19 | | full term or the vacant term by written declaration, which |
20 | | shall be signed
and acknowledged by an officer authorized to |
21 | | take such acknowledgments and
which is filed with the township |
22 | | treasurer in the township in which he or
she is a candidate |
23 | | within the time provided by the general election law.
