2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 10 as follows:
|

7 | | Sec. 10.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; exemption from |
8 | | civil liability
for emergency care. Any person trained in |
9 | | basic
cardiopulmonary resuscitation who has successfully |
10 | | completed training in accordance with the
the standards of the |
11 | | American Red Cross or the American Heart Association and who |
12 | | in good faith, not for
compensation, provides emergency |
13 | | cardiopulmonary
resuscitation in accordance with his or her |
14 | | training to a person who is an apparent victim of acute
|
15 | | cardiopulmonary insufficiency shall not, as the result of
his |
16 | | or her acts or omissions in providing resuscitation, be
liable |
17 | | for civil damages, unless the acts or omissions
constitute |
18 | | willful and wanton misconduct. |
