Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Deletes language providing for reduced registration fees for active duty military personnel. Provides instead that the standard vehicle registration fee for passenger motor vehicles of the first division and motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds shall be waived for any Illinois vehicle owner who is a veteran or is currently enlisted as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 3-806.7 as follows: |
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-806.7) |
7 | | Sec. 3-806.7. Registration fees waived for veterans and |
8 | | current for active duty military personnel. |
9 | | (a) The Beginning with the 2011 registration year, the |
10 | | standard registration fee set forth in Section 3-806 of this |
11 | | Code for passenger motor vehicles of the first division and |
12 | | motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than |
13 | | 8,000 pounds and registered under Section 3-815 of this Code , |
14 | | shall be waived reduced by 50% for any Illinois vehicle owner |
15 | | who is a veteran or is currently enlisted was on active duty as |
16 | | a member of the Armed Forces of the United States . As used in |
17 | | this Section, "veteran" means a person who has served in the |
18 | | armed forces and was discharged or separated under honorable |
19 | | conditions. and stationed outside of the United States for a |
20 | | period of 90 days or longer during the preceding registration |
21 | | year. |

23 | | Armed Forces of the United States and who have been stationed |
