Amends the Radon Industry Licensing Act. Provides that all electronic radon detection devices sold in this State to individuals licensed in accordance with the Act (currently, those sold to anyone) must be calibrated to ensure the accuracy and precision of their measurements of radon and radon progeny.

1 | | AN ACT concerning safety.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Radon Industry Licensing Act is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 27 as follows: |
6 | | (420 ILCS 44/27) |
7 | | Sec. 27. Approval of radon sampling and measurement |
8 | | devices. No person shall sell a device in this State to detect |
9 | | the presence of radon or radon progeny in the indoor |
10 | | atmosphere without prior approval of the device from the |
11 | | Agency. All electronic radon detection devices sold in this |
12 | | State to individuals licensed in accordance with this Act must |
13 | | be calibrated to ensure the accuracy and precision of their |
14 | | measurements of radon and radon progeny.
