Amends the Cook County Article of the Illinois Pension Code. In a provision concerning proof of disability, provides that proof of duty or ordinary disability shall be furnished to the board by at least one licensed and practicing physician appointed by or acceptable to the board (instead of appointed by the board). Provides that each disabled employee who receives a duty or ordinary disability benefit shall be examined at least once a year or a longer period of time as determined by the board (instead of at least once a year).

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 9-158 as follows:
|

7 | | Sec. 9-158. Proof of disability, duty and ordinary. Proof |
8 | | of duty or ordinary disability shall be furnished to the board |
9 | | by
at least one licensed and practicing physician appointed by |
10 | | or acceptable to the board, except that this requirement may |
11 | | be waived by the board for proof of duty disability if the |
12 | | employee has been compensated by the county for such |
13 | | disability or specific loss under the Workers' Compensation |
14 | | Act or Workers' Occupational Diseases Act. The physician |
15 | | requirement may also be waived by the board for ordinary |
16 | | disability maternity claims of up to 8 weeks. With respect to |
17 | | duty disability, satisfactory proof must be provided to the |
18 | | board that the final adjudication of the claim required under |
19 | | subsection (d) of Section 9-159 established that the |
20 | | disability or death resulted from an injury incurred in the |
21 | | performance of an act or acts of duty. The
