Amends the Department of Human Services Act. Provides that if the U.S. Department of Justice halts a large majority of its payments to rape crisis centers in Illinois during a federal government shutdown, the Department of Human Services shall award grants to the organizations already approved for funding under the Sexual Assault Prevention Program in the amounts that would have been received from the federal government if the shutdown had not occurred. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Department of Human Services Act is amended |
5 | | by adding Section 10-33a as follows: |
6 | | (20 ILCS 1305/10-33a new) |
7 | | Sec. 10-33a. Sexual Assault Prevention Program; emergency |
8 | | grants. If the U.S. Department of Justice halts a large |
9 | | majority of its payments to rape crisis centers in Illinois |
10 | | during a federal government shutdown, the Department shall |
11 | | award grants to the organizations already approved for funding |
12 | | under the Sexual Assault Prevention Program in the amounts |
13 | | that would have been received from the federal government if |
14 | | the shutdown had not occurred.

15 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
16 | | becoming law.
