3 | replacing line 5 with the following:

4 | "amended by changing Sections 8 and 12.6 as follows:

5 | (50 ILCS 740/8) (from Ch. 85, par. 538)
| ||||||
6 | Sec. 8. Rules and minimum standards for schools. The | ||||||
7 | Office
shall adopt rules and minimum standards for such
| ||||||
8 | schools which shall include , but not be limited to , the | ||||||
9 | following:
| ||||||
10 | a. Minimum courses of study, resources, facilities, | ||||||
11 | apparatus,
equipment, reference material, established | ||||||
12 | records and procedures as
determined by the Office.
| ||||||
13 | b. Minimum requirements for instructors.
| ||||||
14 | c. Minimum basic training requirements, which a | ||||||
15 | trainee must
satisfactorily complete before being eligible | ||||||
16 | for permanent employment
as a firefighter in the fire | ||||||
17 | department of a participating local
governmental agency.

1 | Those requirements shall include training in first aid | ||||||
2 | (including
cardiopulmonary resuscitation), training in the | ||||||
3 | administration of opioid antagonists as defined in | ||||||
4 | paragraph (1) of subsection (e) of Section 5-23 of the | ||||||
5 | Substance Use Disorder Act , and training in the history of | ||||||
6 | the fire service labor movement using curriculum and | ||||||
7 | instructors provided by a statewide organization | ||||||
8 | representing professional union firefighters in Illinois .

9 | d. Training in effective recognition of and responses | ||||||
10 | to stress, trauma, and post-traumatic stress experienced | ||||||
11 | by firefighters that is consistent with Section 25 of the | ||||||
12 | Illinois Mental Health First Aid Training Act in a peer | ||||||
13 | setting. | ||||||
