Amends the Illinois Fire Protection Training Act. In provisions requiring fire fighters to complete training relating to the history of the fire service labor movement, provides that "fire fighter" includes fire fighters hired by the Chicago Fire Department.

1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Fire Protection Training Act is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 12.6 as follows: |
6 | | (50 ILCS 740/12.6) |
7 | | Sec. 12.6. History of the fire service. The Office shall |
8 | | maintain on its website a link to an educational program or |
9 | | literature for fire fighters in the history of the fire |
10 | | service labor movement. The training shall be completed by |
11 | | each fire fighter. Entities responsible for the training of |
12 | | fire fighters may request that such educational program be |
13 | | presented in person by a statewide organization representing |
14 | | professional union fire fighters in this State. In this |
15 | | Section, "fire fighter" means a fire fighter hired under |
16 | | Division 2.1 of Article 10 of the Illinois Municipal Code, |
17 | | under Section 10-1-7.1 of the Illinois Municipal Code, or |
18 | | under Section 16.06b of the Fire Protection District Act , or |
19 | | fire fighters hired by the Chicago Fire Department .
