Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Requires the Department of Human Services to adopt rules that permit recipients of benefits provided under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the Women,
Infant, and Children (WIC) program, and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to use their benefits to purchase menstrual hygiene products. Requires the Department to apply for any waiver or State Plan amendment, if required, to implement the provisions of the amendatory Act. Provides that implementation shall be contingent on federal approval.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 12-4.54 as follows: |
6 | | (305 ILCS 5/12-4.54 new) |
7 | | Sec. 12-4.54. SNAP, TANF, WIC; menstrual hygiene products. |
8 | | The Department of Human Services shall adopt rules that permit |
9 | | recipients of benefits provided under the Supplemental |
10 | | Nutrition Assistance Program, the Women,
Infant, and Children |
11 | | (WIC) program, and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families |
12 | | program established under Article IV of this Code to use their |
13 | | benefits to purchase menstrual hygiene products. The |
14 | | Department shall apply for any waiver or State Plan amendment, |
15 | | if required, to implement this Section. Implementation of this |
16 | | Section shall be contingent on federal approval.
