SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David "Dave" Joseph Conlin of Arthur, who
4passed away on August 20, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dave Conlin was born to John Joseph and Margaret
6Agnes Smith Conlin in rural Arthur on January 12, 1933; he
7graduated from Arthur High School in 1951 and attended the
8University of Illinois; he then served two years in the U.S.
9Army; he married LaVonne "Bonnie" Bolton in Arcola on October
101, 1955; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dave Conlin worked for 36 years as manager of
12Unity Grain, formerly known as Pierson Grain; after retirement,
13he continued to work part time in the fertilizer department
14with Unity Grain; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dave Conlin served on the Arthur City Council for
1620 years and served as mayor for eight years; he served as a
17board member of the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois; he
18was a member of the Arthur Chamber of Commerce, served as a
19board member of the Arthur Home, and was past president of the
20Arthur Area Economic Development Association; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dave Conlin belonged to St. John the Baptist

1Catholic Church in Arcola, where he served on the Finance
2Committee and served as an usher for many years; he was also a
3member of the Rotary Club and American Legion Post #479; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dave Conlin enjoyed boating for 27 years and was a
5member of the Illini Grants and Aids for 15 years; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dave Conlin was preceded in death by his parents
7and his brother, Jack; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dave Conlin is survived by his wife of nearly 65
9years, Bonnie Conlin; his three children, Cathy (Durb) Askew,
10Mark (Vickie) Conlin, and Teresa (Dennis) Chamberlain; his four
11grandchildren, Shane Janssen, Lindsay Orsi, Kristin
12Chamberlain, and Justin Chamberlain; his three
13great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Janssen, Gage Chamberlain, and
14Ella Orsi; his brother, Phillip (Alice) Conlin; his
15sister-in-law, Shirley Conlin; and his several nieces and
16nephews; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19David "Dave" Joseph Conlin and extend our sincere condolences
20to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
21it further
