SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wally Chance of Milan, who passed away on
4December 3, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wally Chance was born in Alabama to Hubert and
6Mary Lou "Doskie" (Hargett) Chance on December 21, 1926; he
7married Betty Sharp in Rock Island on August 14, 1954, and she
8preceded him in death in 2012; he served in the U.S. Army; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Wally Chance worked as a pipefitter for John Deere
10Co. before retiring in 1985; alongside his wife, he opened the
11Scamper In, a diner in Milan, in November 1958, and he did
12maintenance there part time until it closed in 2016; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Wally Chance enjoyed listening to country and blue
14grass music; he also enjoyed watching the University of Alabama
15football games on television; during the summertime, he loved
16boating and fishing with his friends; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Wally Chance was preceded in death by his wife;
18his parents; a grandson; and several siblings; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Wally Chance is survived by his children, Sandy
20(Don) McLean, Tammy (Robert) McShane, Kevin (Dawn Harlow)

1Chance, and Brian Chance; five grandchildren; one
2step-grandson; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruby
3Williams; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Wally Chance and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
7friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Wally Chance as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
