SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mark Hinojosa, who passed away on
4February 21, 2020 at the age of 63; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark Hinojosa was born on August 17, 1956 to John
6G. and Emma Hinojosa and grew up in Los Angeles; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mark Hinojosa earned his bachelor's degree from
8Pepperdine University, where he studied mass communications;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mark Hinojosa worked as the Associate Managing
11Editor for Multimedia for the Chicago Tribune; he and his staff
12received various awards for their multimedia projects; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Mark Hinojosa later became the Director of
14Interactive Media for The Detroit News and developed their
15social media strategy; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mark Hinojosa finished his career as an associate
17professor at the Missouri School of Journalism, where he taught
18and inspired many; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mark Hinojosa had a passion for photography,

1starting in middle school, and pursued it throughout his life;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mark Hinojosa will be remembered by his friends,
4coworkers, and students not only for his influence on
5journalism but also for his ability to make deep friendships
6anywhere he went; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mark Hinojosa was preceded in death by his
8parents; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mark Hinojosa is survived by his wife of 31 years,
10Katherine Foran; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
13Mark Hinojosa and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
14friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Mark Hinojosa as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
