2 | | WHEREAS, the members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Amelia Lenore Saccaro of Chicago Heights, |
4 | | who passed away on June 17, 2019 at the age of 95; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Amelia Saccaro was born on November 8, 1923; from |
6 | | a young age, she had to work in order to support her family |
7 | | during the Great Depression; during World War II, she ran a |
8 | | truck stop and worked as a cook, waitress, and dishwasher; |
9 | | despite not attending high school due to work, she was able to |
10 | | earn her G.E.D. after the war and soon earned as many college |
11 | | credits as she could through the College Level Examination |
12 | | Program; and

13 | | WHEREAS, Amelia Saccaro married her husband Quinn at the |
14 | | age of 19; she worked three jobs in order to send her daughters |
15 | | to private school in LaGrange; she instilled a reverence for |
16 | | education in her daughters which paved the way for them to earn |
17 | | multiple advanced degrees and careers in education; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Amelia Saccaro was vivacious and jovial; she often |
19 | | discussed politics and religion with anyone she could and |
20 | | enjoyed sending birthday greetings; she saw both Elvis and Neil |
21 | | Diamond in concert and enjoyed listening to Waylon Jennings and |
22 | | Johnny Cash; she also made an excellent lasagna; and
