SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frederic G. Hogan, who passed away on
4August 9, 2019 at the age of 72; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frederic Hogan was born on July 29, 1947; he
6attended the University of Wisconsin, where he was a proud
7member, as well as bar-builder, of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and
8was an All-American swimmer; he married Mary Beth Barry, the
9granddaughter of the late State Senator and Illinois Circuit
10Court Judge Norman C. Barry; and
 
11    WHEREAS, After graduating from the Notre Dame Law School,
12Frederic Hogan became a lawyer; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Frederic Hogan was passionate about and devoted to
14woodworking; he enjoyed pursuing adventure, whether it was
15skiing, fishing, or sailing across the Atlantic in a
16much-too-small boat; he never shied away from a good time and
17was known as a verbose storyteller; he was proud of his Chicago
18roots and was a longtime board member of Marillac St. Vincent;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Frederic Hogan was devoted to his family; he was a
21proud father to his three children, an adoring and doting

1"Papa" to his 10 grandchildren, a caring brother to his
2siblings, and a loyal friend to many; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Frederic Hogan was preceded in death by his
4brother, Don (the late Carolyn) Hogan and his parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frederic Hogan is survived by his wife of 48
6years, Mary Beth; his children, Tim (Heather) Hogan, Colleen
7(Ryan) Kelly, and Katie Hogan (Matthew Jaffe); his
8grandchildren, Finn Hogan, Katie Hogan, Sadie Hogan, William
9Hogan, Owen Kelly, Elizabeth Kelly, Jack Kelly, Caroline Jaffe,
10Maggie Jaffe, and Emma Jaffe; his siblings, Carol (Paul)
11Hickey, Peggy (Wayne) Fleit, Terry Hogan, Jim (Joan) Conway,
12Peggy Haggerty, Bernie (the late Mary) Conway, and Patrick
13(Jan) Hogan; his cousin, Robin Rumpf; and his many nieces and
14nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Frederic G. Hogan and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Frederic Hogan as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
