SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of LTC Jon Charles Cook of Moline, who
4passed away on November 24, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jon Cook was born to William Wesley and Barbara
6(Kriess) Cook in Tokyo, Japan on February 3, 1948; he graduated
7from Ohio State University; he married Marcia Ferris in Moline
8on June 12, 1971; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jon Cook served in the U. S. Army from 1972 until
10his retirement in 1992; after his service, he worked with Army
11Community Services in Army Emergency Relief on the Rock Island
12Arsenal, retiring in 2014; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jon Cook was an active member of First Church of
14Christ, Scientist in Moline where he served as a church clerk,
15a second reader, and a Sunday school teacher; he was also a
16member of Doric Lodge #319, AF & AM, and the Scottish Rite
17Bodies, Valley of Moline; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jon Cook was a volunteer with the Quad Cities
19Animal Recovery Team; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jon Cook loved spending time with his family,

1especially his grandchildren; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jon Cook is survived by his wife; his two
3children, William Cook and Nancy (Edward) Testa-Meyer; his two
4grandchildren, Ashley Testa and Serenity Meyer; and his
5step-siblings and their spouses, Roger "Tim" and Julie
6Richards, Howard "Doug" and Cathy Richards, and Earl "Jeff"
7Richards and Mary Giffin; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10LTC Jon Charles Cook and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Jon Cook as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
