SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eldon Starnes of Bloomington, who passed
4away on October 22, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes was born to James Kurt and Agnes
6(Livengood) Starnes in Bloomington on August 8, 1922; he
7enlisted in the U.S. Army one week before the bombing of Pearl
8Harbor; he served as a Technician fifth grade in the 388th
9Anti-aircraft Artillery during WWII; he was honorably
10discharged on January 4, 1946; he married June Lacy in
11Bloomington on October 18, 1946; and
 
12    WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge, Eldon Starnes
13initially worked at the Meadows Washing Machine Company before
14going to work in East Peoria at Caterpillar; he retired in
151982; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes was a member of the VFW Post 814 in
17Peoria; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes enjoyed bowling, country music,
19spending time with his family, and watching his beloved Chicago
20Cubs; he was thrilled to finally see them win the World Series
21in 2016; and

1    WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes was preceded in death by his
2parents; his wife; his daughter, Julie Morales; his two
3sisters; a brother; and his cousin, Edward Smiley; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes is survived by his son-in-law,
5Hubert Morales; his brother, Norman; his three nephews, Steve
6Rousey, Terry Rousey, and Gary Starnes; and several cousins;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Eldon Starnes and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
11friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Eldon Starnes as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
