SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gale L. Ufert, who passed away on July
423, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gale Ufert was born in Alton to Harold L. and
6Betty L. (Duley) Kessinger on January 16, 1954; she married
7Fred E. Ufert III in Edwardsville on December 30, 1992, and he
8preceded her in death on March 25, 2015; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gale Ufert worked as an administrative assistant
10for the Wood River Township Supervisor's Office for over 27
11years before retiring; she was also a published author; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gale Ufert served as a Wood River City
13Councilwoman and on the East Alton-Wood River High School Board
14from 2001 to 2007; she was active with the Wood River Heritage
15Council and was past chairperson of the Wood River
16Beautification Committee; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gale Ufert was an active community volunteer; she
18was an annual supporter of the Jacoby Arts Center and was a
19past member of the Alton Eagles Auxiliary; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gale Ufert was preceded in death by her husband,

1Fred; her parents; her son, David Ufert; her brothers, Gary L.,
2Billy G., and Dale L. Kessinger; and her sister, Helen
3Bertagnolli; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gale Ufert is survived by her sons, Colin (Lisa)
5Overmeyer, Troy Ufert, and Anthony Ufert; six grandchildren; a
6great-grandchild; and her sisters-in-law, Cleada Kessinger and
7Nancy (Terry) Fairless; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Gale L. Ufert and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
11friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Gale Ufert as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
