SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Philip J. White of Silvis, who passed
4away on September 23, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Philip White was born in Leominster,
6Massachusetts to Henry E. and Beatrice (Bailey) White on
7October 1, 1936; he attended St. Leo School in Leominster and
8St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Philip White loved to play baseball and played
10professionally in the Midwest League; he was signed by the
11Boston Red Sox in 1956; he served his country in the U.S. Army
12and earned several commendations; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Philip White graduated from the Palmer College of
14Chiropractic in 1964 and married Mercedes Stai on November 28,
151964; he and his wife returned to Leominster, where he
16practiced for over 37 years, retiring in 2002; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Philip White enjoyed camping in Maine, traveling,
18tinkering and fixing things, and spending time with his
19grandchildren; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Philip White was preceded in death by his parents

1and his sister, Jean Raney; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Philip White is survived by his wife, Mercedes;
3his children, Philip White Jr., Paul (Wendy) White, Prescott
4(Sharon) White, Terri Favela, and Michael Selhost; his
5grandchildren, Jenna, Nicholas, Adan, Raul, Jennifer, Jacquie,
6Tim, Anthony, Benjamin, and Katherine; his
7great-grandchildren, Michael, Izabel, Elizabeth, Audrey,
8Mason, Jaxson, Lily, and Landon; and his siblings, Henry White,
9Douglas (Nancy) White, James White, Richard White, Robert
10White, Laureen White, and Lynn Matarese; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Philip J. White and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Philip White as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
