2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Philip J. White of Silvis, who passed |
4 | | away on September 23, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Philip White was born in Leominster, |
6 | | Massachusetts to Henry E. and Beatrice (Bailey) White on |
7 | | October 1, 1936; he attended St. Leo School in Leominster and |
8 | | St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Philip White loved to play baseball and played |
10 | | professionally in the Midwest League; he was signed by the |
11 | | Boston Red Sox in 1956; he served his country in the U.S. Army |
12 | | and earned several commendations; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Philip White graduated from the Palmer College of |
14 | | Chiropractic in 1964 and married Mercedes Stai on November 28, |
15 | | 1964; he and his wife returned to Leominster, where he |
16 | | practiced for over 37 years, retiring in 2002; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Philip White enjoyed camping in Maine, traveling, |
18 | | tinkering and fixing things, and spending time with his |
19 | | grandchildren; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Philip White was preceded in death by his parents |

1 | | and his sister, Jean Raney; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Philip White is survived by his wife, Mercedes; |
3 | | his children, Philip White Jr., Paul (Wendy) White, Prescott |
4 | | (Sharon) White, Terri Favela, and Michael Selhost; his |
5 | | grandchildren, Jenna, Nicholas, Adan, Raul, Jennifer, Jacquie, |
6 | | Tim, Anthony, Benjamin, and Katherine; his |
7 | | great-grandchildren, Michael, Izabel, Elizabeth, Audrey, |
8 | | Mason, Jaxson, Lily, and Landon; and his siblings, Henry White, |
9 | | Douglas (Nancy) White, James White, Richard White, Robert |
10 | | White, Laureen White, and Lynn Matarese; therefore, be it
|
11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
13 | | Philip J. White and extend our sincere condolences to his |
14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
15 | | further

16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
17 | | presented to the family of Philip White as an expression of our |
18 | | deepest sympathy.
