SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William L. "Bill" Portugue of Edgington,
4who passed away on September 27, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Portugue was born to C. Quentin and Helen M.
6Portugue on November 8, 1947; he graduated from Winola High
7School in 1965 and married Roxie on November 28, 1970; he
8served in the United States Coast Guard from 1970 to 1974 and
9was a reservist for many years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bill Portugue retired from John Deere in 2012
11after 46 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bill Portugue enjoyed lighthouses, the water,
13traveling with his wife and family, staying home, and history;
14most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and
15teaching his grandchildren about nature; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Portugue was preceded in death by his
17parents; his brother, Michael; and his son, David; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bill Portugue is survived by his children, Tonya
19Odgen, Kathy (Steve) Hyde, and William D. (Angela) Portugue;
20his grandchildren, Amber, Kayla, Kim, Kelly, Lindsey, Dalton,

1Kylie, Taygen, Gracie, and Izibella; his great-grandchildren,
2Gabe and Shire; his siblings, Daniel Portugue and Christine
3Carlton; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6William L. "Bill" Portugue and extend our sincere condolences
7to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Bill Portugue as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
