SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marvin Van Hoorn of Beason, who passed
4away on August 24, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marvin Van Hoorn was born in McLean to Paul Sr.
6and Annetta Saathoff Van Hoorn on November 21, 1934; he
7graduated from McLean High School and served in the U.S. Army;
8he married Robin Lynn Alexander on April 2, 1961; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marvin Van Hoorn was a lifelong farmer in the
10Beason area; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marvin Van Hoorn was a member of Beason United
12Methodist Church, Atlanta American Legion Post 341, the Logan
13County Farm Bureau, the Beason Fire Department, and the Beason
14School Board; he enjoyed attending farm sales, horse races at
15the Logan County Fair, and visiting Brown County, where he
16farmed and hunted; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marvin Van Hoorn was preceded in death by his
18wife, Robin; his great-grandson, Emmett Marvin Pickell; and his
19sisters, Margaret Renfrow and Doris Evans; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Marvin Van Hoorn is survived by his children,

1Marvin "Mardee" (Tara) Van Hoorn, Lori (Tom) Johnson, Shelley
2(Curt) Heery, and Scott (Chrissy) Van Hoorn; nine
3grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his brothers,
4George Van Hoorn and Paul (Linda) Van Hoorn Jr.; therefore, be
5it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Marvin Van Hoorn and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Marvin Van Hoorn as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
