SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edna Mary "Ginger" Kennedy of Wilmington,
4who passed away on July 12, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ginger Kennedy was born to Phillip David and
6Harriett (McMilleon) Girouard in Leominster, Massachusetts on
7December 13, 1928; she married Francis Xavier Kennedy, and the
8couple moved to Illinois after Francis' retirement from the
9U.S. Army; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ginger Kennedy worked at the J.C. Penney in
11downtown Joliet; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ginger Kennedy was a member of Sacred Heart Parish
13before transferring to St. Mary Carmelite and later St. Patrick
14Parish in Joliet; she volunteered for many years in the soup
15kitchen at St. Mary Carmelite; following the death of her
16husband in 2004, Ginger moved to Wilmington, where she became a
17member of St. Rose Catholic Church; she also belonged to the
18Fraternal Order of Eagles 3588 in Joliet and was active in the
19Wesley Community Club; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ginger Kennedy enjoyed playing cards, as well as
21gardening, flowers, and cooking; and

1    WHEREAS, Ginger Kennedy was preceded in death by her
2parents; her husband; and her infant brother; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ginger Kennedy is survived by her five children;
4Kathleen Kennedy, Kevin Kennedy, Dan (Lyne) Kennedy, John
5(Vickie) Kennedy, and Brian (Colleen) Kennedy; her six
6grandchildren, Ryan Kennedy, Bruce Kennedy, Bradley Kennedy,
7Kacey Kennedy, Elsie Kennedy, and Conner Kennedy; her
8great-grandchild, Hunter Knox Kennedy; her sister, Jean
9Barber; and her dear friends, Koreen Nadine, Sue Michaels, and
10Gloria Gurza; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Edna Mary "Ginger" Kennedy and extend our sincere condolences
14to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Ginger Kennedy as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
