SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ernest "Ernie" Frederick Bennett of
4Buffalo, who passed away on August 8, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ernie Bennett was born to Harry and Florence
6(Hoffert) Bennett in Springfield on November 2, 1936; he
7married Joyce Anne Watkins on October 24, 1959; he served in
8the U.S. Army for four years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After serving in the military, Ernie Bennett
10worked for Caterpillar Inc. in Decatur; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ernie Bennett was a member of the South Tower
12Community Church; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ernie Bennett enjoyed his antique vehicles and was
14a member of the Early Idlers Car Club in Decatur; he was a
15self-taught artist who loved to draw; he loved spending time
16with his wife as they traveled to fairs with their E & J
17Concessions stand; he loved the Chicago Cubs and was thrilled
18when they won the 2016 World Series at the time of his 80th
19birthday; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ernest Bennett was preceded in death by his

1parents; his wife; four brothers, Harvey Bennett, Harold
2Bennett, George Bennett, and Jim Bennett; and one sister, Marie
3Galbraith; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ernest Bennett is survived by his four children,
5Renee (Jeff) Kruger, Duane (Jan) Bennett, Robin (Jay) Timm, and
6Rachael (Robert) Paul; his seven grandchildren, Kyle Kruger,
7Aaron Bennett, J.P Meyer, Bryce Paul, Lucas Kruger, Abbey Paul,
8and Alec Timm; and his three great-grandchildren, Maddux
9Bennett, Marlie Meyer, and Avery Paul; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Ernest "Ernie" Frederick Bennett and extend our sincere
13condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Ernie Bennett as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
