SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Darrell Dean Kehl of Normal, who passed
4away on August 10, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Darrell Kehl was born to Thomas Dean and Marjorie
6Eloise Blimling Kehl in Jacksonville on January 24, 1941; he
7was a 1959 graduate of Normal Community High School and a 1963
8alumnus of Illinois State University; he married Karen L. Rees
9on August 27, 1966; and
 
10    WHEREAS, in 1969, Darrell Kehl began working at State Farm
11as an electronic data processing specialist; he held several
12data processing jobs before becoming a manager of general
13services in 1974; he was named executive assistant in the
14president's office in 1983; he relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska
15as a deputy regional vice president in 1985; he returned to
16Bloomington in 1987 to hold the position of vice president
17systems and retired in 2002 after 33 years of service; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Darrell Kehl was an active member of the Lexington
19First United Methodist Church; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Darrell Kehl was extremely passionate about
21fast-pitch softball; he played the game for over 20 years with

1Silver Leaf 4-H, Laesch Dairy, GMC Trucks, Ebach Reality, and
2the Bloomington Hearts; in 1988, he was elected into the
3Illinois Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Darrell Kehl was a lifetime Los Angeles Dodgers
5and Green Bay Packers fan; he enjoyed his morning trips for
6coffee at Green Gables, Wednesday dinners at Kick's, and an
7occasional ice-cold Stag with friends; he was an avid Redbirds
8fan and received the Joseph F. Warner Golden Redbird Award with
9his wife Karen in 2014; he loved his family and his friends
10dearly; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Darrell Kehl was preceded in death by his parents;
12his in-laws, Francis (Buck) and Eva Rees; and his
13brother-in-law, Daniel Koons; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Darrell Kehl is survived by his wife; his
15daughter, Jami (Greg) Head; his granddaughters, Falyn
16Schweitzer and Avery Head; his sister, Darlene Evans; his
17sister-in-law, Kathy Koons; his five nieces; and his three
18nephews; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Darrell Kehl and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
22friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Darrell Kehl as an expression of our
3deepest sympathy.
