2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Frank L. Urbanik of Wadsworth, who passed |
4 | | away on April 18, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Frank Urbanik was born to Joseph and Sophia |
6 | | (Murzyn) Urbanik in North Chicago on July 4, 1931; he graduated |
7 | | from Waukegan High School in 1949 and proudly served his |
8 | | country in the Korean War as a US Army Private First Class |
9 | | (Marksmen) stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Frank Urbanik worked two full-time jobs for many |
11 | | years to support his young family, both as a switchman for the |
12 | | EJ&E railroad and as an electrician for the US Steel Wiremill; |
13 | | subsequently, he spent over 45 years as a master electrician. |
14 | | retiring from both US Steel and the Department of Defense; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Frank Urbanik was a member of Holy Rosary, |
16 | | Immaculate Conception, and Saint Patrick's parishes over the |
17 | | years; he was also a lifelong member of the Knights of |
18 | | Columbus; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, The most important things to Frank Urbanik were |
20 | | his family, his faith, and baseball; in his youth, he was a |
21 | | standout third baseman and great hitter who could have played |
|

1 | | for the majors had he not been called away to service; he |
2 | | played semi-pro ball across Chicagoland with St Joes and the |
3 | | North Shore League and was actively recruited by Major League |
4 | | scouts for multiple tryouts, including the Cleveland Indians |
5 | | and the Chicago Cubs; even in old age, he was a fierce |
6 | | competitor, whether he was playing softball, golfing with his |
7 | | best friends, or playing checkers and baggo with his kids; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Frank Urbanik was preceded in death by his |
9 | | parents; his daughter, Joan Marie; his brothers, Aloysius and |
10 | | Joseph; and his sister, Vera Lenzini; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Frank Urbanik is survived by his beloved wife of |
12 | | 65 years, Rosemary; his children, Cynthia Urbanik, Deborah |
13 | | Wicks, and Frank Jr; his grandchildren, Audrey Dzhurov, |
14 | | Nicholas Hawn, Melissa Hawn, Jaime Wicks, Alex Wicks, Joseph |
15 | | Urbanik, Luke Urbanik, and Faith Urbanik; his |
16 | | great-grandchildren, Rose, Cailin, Raegan, Sydney, Rachel, |
17 | | Josie, Mia, Michael, Beau, and Elio; his sister, Rita Mateja; |
18 | | and his beloved big brother, Anthony; therefore, be it

19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
