SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Duane A. "Butch" Mathis of Beach Park,
4who passed away on February 27, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Butch Mathis was born to Wayne and Vivian (Allen)
6Mathis in Waukegan on April 11, 1941; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Butch Mathis worked for Abbott Labs, retiring in
81996 after 37 years of service; and
 
9    WHEREAS, For the past 54 years, Butch Mathis was a lifetime
10member of the Zion Moose Lodge; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Butch Mathis was an avid cribbage player, liked
12country music, and enjoyed working in his garage; he loved the
13Green Bay Packers, the Atlanta Braves, and traveling to his
14property up north in Wisconsin; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Butch Mathis was preceded in death by his parents;
16his second wife, Nancy; and his daughter-in-law, Laura Mathis;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Butch Mathis is survived by by his two loving
19sons, Kenneth (Lynn Tester) Mathis and Scott (Teresa Nelson)

1Mathis; his first wife and the mother of his sons, Mary
2Johnson; his second wife's children, Dan Capell, Dave Capell,
3and Rita Richardson; his sister, Karen (Bruce) Miller; his
4grandchildren, Jacob Mathis, Jennifer Capell, Jim (Kimber)
5Richardson, and Joe (Marlana) Richardson; his
6great-grandchildren, Elise, Vinny, Eva, Gabriel, Benjamin, and
7Rebecca; his nieces and nephews, Brock (Julianna) Miller, Derek
8(Jennifer) Miller, and Heather (Christopher) Harrison; and his
9great nieces and nephews, Brianna, Brandt, Zachary, Samantha,
10Madison, and Payton; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Duane "Butch" A. Mathis and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Butch Mathis as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
