SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wayne F. Machnich of Lake Bluff, who
4passed away on May 17, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was born in Waukegan on April 26,
61943; he grew up in North Chicago; he was a long-time resident
7of Waukegan and lived in Lake Bluff for the last 22 years; an
8Architecture graduate, he attended the University of Illinois
9and Southern Illinois University; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich began working at Legat Architects
11in 1968, where he served as president from 1983 to 2007 and
12retired in 2013; he was a founding member of its Board of
13Directors; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich served on the Architectural
15Foundation Board of Southern Illinois University; he was
16recognized with the SIU Alumni Achievement Award in 2007; he
17was also the founder and past president of the Waukegan Schools
18Foundation; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was an avid golfer, and he served
20as the past president of the Glen Flora Country Club; he also
21enjoyed traveling with his wife; together, they visited all 50

1states and all 7 continents, including Antarctica; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was preceded in death by his
3parents, Gilbert and Angela Machnich; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich is survived by his wife of 48
5years, Cheryl Machnich; his daughter, Tegan (Var Lordahl)
6Machnich; his grandchildren, Everett and Quinn; his sister,
7Corinne Nennig; and his nephews, Frank (Cindy) Nennig, Monte
8(Cheryl) Nennig, and Mike (Michelle) Nennig; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Wayne F. Machnich and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Wayne Machnich as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
