SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Morris A. "Morrie" De Geeter of East
4Moline, who passed away on July 10, 2020 at the age of 101; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter was born in Hartwick, Iowa to
6Edward and Emma (Van Waes) De Geeter on August 6, 1918; he
7served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and married
8Patricia "Annie" (Gardiner) Campbell in Moline on August 18,
91987; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter retired from the International
11Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1304 in 1982, after 25
12years of service; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter loved his house and the outdoors;
14he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter was preceded in death by his
16parents; his children, Brad Martin De Geeter and Karna O'Neil;
17his stepdaughter, Barb Campbell; and his siblings, Fred,
18Victor, and August De Geeter and Ida Vermiere; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter is survived by his wife, Annie;
20his stepson, Weldon Campbell Jr.; numerous grandchildren,

1great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and
2great-nephews; and his best friend, Little Annie, his Labrador;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Morris A. "Morrie" De Geeter and extend our sincere condolences
7to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Morris De Geeter as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
