SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William E. "Bill" Thomas Sr., who passed
4away on June 2, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Thomas was born in Lerna to Roy and Margaret
6Thomas on April 30, 1932; he married Norma Tate on December 9,
71951; he served in the U.S. Army while living in Texas; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bill Thomas worked at Hays Freightline before
9moving to Springfield in 1955; his lifelong career started with
10Westinghouse Elevator, where he retired after 28 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Thomas enjoyed camping with his wife,
12fishing, and playing cards with his friends; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bill Thomas was preceded in death by his parents;
14his brother, Kenny; and his sister, Delores; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bill Thomas is survived by his wife of 68 years,
16Norma; his children, Connie Thomas, Ed Thomas, Jim (Julie)
17Thomas, and Steve (Mary Lou) Thomas; his seven grandchildren;
18and his seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2William E. "Bill" Thomas Sr. and extend our sincere condolences
3to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
4it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Bill Thomas as an expression of our
7deepest sympathy.
