SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jerry Harkins Jr. of Rock Island, who
4passed away on May 12, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerry Harkins was born to Jerry Harkins Sr. and
6Maurine Bredimus Harkins in Des Moines, Iowa on April 5, 1929;
7he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received
8his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctorate degree from Kansas
9City University; Jerry married Rita Warren on July 29, 1974 in
10Rock Island; he was previously married to Dolores Kenning; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jerry Harkins worked in the fields of banking,
12finance, and political consulting; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jerry Harkins was was a member of the St. Patrick
14Society of the Quad Cities; he enjoyed playing golf and spent a
15lot of time doing so; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jerry Harkins was preceded in death by his
17parents; his brother, Tom Harkins; and his grandson, Rev. Evan
18Harkins; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jerry Harkins is survived by his wife, Rita; his
20children, Joe (Connie) Harkins, Pat (Allyson) Harkins, Luke

1Harkins, Mary (Don) Quinn, Katy (Mike) Urbik, Frank Harkins,
2Mike (Sonya) Harkins, Danny (Sandi) Harkins, Molly Harkins, and
3Jameson Harkins; his 34 grandchildren; his 17
4great-grandchildren; his sister, Kay Gangel; and his
5sister-in-law, Maria Harkins; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Jerry Harkins Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Jerry Harkins as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
