SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Phillip Jay "Flip" Mandel of Costa Mesa,
4California, formerly of Peoria, who passed away on March 24,
52020; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Phillip Mandel was born to Dorothy Van De Veer
7Mandel and Harold R. Mandel on September 5, 1951; he grew up
8and spent most of his adult life in Peoria; he moved to
9Southern California in February 2017; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Phillip Mandel was a gifted interior designer,
11appreciated for his ability, taste, and timeless design; he was
12exceptionally skilled at translating a vision into reality; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Phillip Mandel was known for his tender heart,
14unconditional support, wit, candor, and intuition; he enjoyed
15playing bridge, vacationing with family and friends, listening
16to classical music, eating chocolate ice cream, and spending
17time with his grandchildren; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Phillip Mandel is survived by his husband, Gerald
19Haley; his daughter, Jenny Mandel; his son, Jordan (Crystal)
20Mandel; his grandchildren, Micah Rubin Mandel and Cora Jade
21Mandel; his sisters, Nancy (William) Suwalski and Heidi (Keith)

1Turcot; and his many cherished nieces and nephews; therefore,
2be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Phillip Jay "Flip" Mandel and extend our sincere condolences to
6his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Phillip Mandel as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
