|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Nancy Ann Shadid of Peoria, who passed |
4 | | away on March 28, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Shadid was born in Peoria on June 30, 1938; |
6 | | she was raised by her uncle and aunt, Don and Merle Dickerson; |
7 | | she graduated from Woodruff High School in 1956; she married |
8 | | William J. "Bill" Shadid at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in |
9 | | Peoria on July 27, 1958; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Shadid worked as a legal secretary for |
11 | | Sidney D. Davidson, where she met her husband; she became a |
12 | | homemaker and raised four children; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Shadid was very active in her children's |
14 | | lives and in the community; she served as a Cub Scout den |
15 | | leader and coach, and she was awarded the Boy Scouts District |
16 | | Award of Merit; she also assisted the Girl Scouts; as a parent, |
17 | | she volunteered at Glen Oak School; she served as a |
18 | | representative on the Journal Star Advisory Board; she |
19 | | co-founded the Peoria Area U.S. Air Force Academy Parents' |
20 | | Club; she began and led the East Bluff Serenity Neighborhood |
21 | | Association; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Shadid was deeply committed to her faith; |
2 | | she was an active parishioner and member of All Saints Greek |
3 | | Orthodox Church, where she volunteered at fundraising dinners |
4 | | and made paximathia cookies for funerals; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Shadid was known as a strong woman who |
6 | | supported her family and the causes in which she believed; she |
7 | | was also known and greatly appreciated for her cooking and |
8 | | baking; she enjoyed spending time with family and friends; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Shadid was preceded in death by her mother, |
10 | | Francis Kling; her sister; and her aunts and uncles; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Shadid is survived by her children, Very |
12 | | Reverend Father Don (Janet) Shadid, Bill Shadid, Peggy Shadid, |
13 | | and Tim (Juana) Shadid; her grandchildren, Rev. Fr. |
14 | | Christopher, Stephen, Anthony, and Noelle; and her |
15 | | half-brothers, Gary Lisitza and Mike Lisitza; therefore, be it
|
16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
18 | | Nancy Ann Shadid and extend our sincere condolences to her |
19 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
20 | | further
