2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of David Stanley Anderson of Jonesboro, | ||||||
4 | Arkansas, formerly of Bloomington, who passed away on March 18, | ||||||
5 | 2020; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, David Anderson was born to Stanley and Mildred | ||||||
7 | Tenold Anderson in Fertile, Iowa on September 26, 1937; he grew | ||||||
8 | up in Joice, Iowa on the family farm, where he cultivated a | ||||||
9 | lifelong love of animals; he graduated from the University of | ||||||
10 | Iowa in 1961; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, David Anderson worked in the Iowa City Parks and | ||||||
12 | Recreation Department before moving his family to Normal, | ||||||
13 | Illinois for the same position in 1965; he was hired by the | ||||||
14 | Town of Normal to become its first city manager in 1970; his | ||||||
15 | many accomplishments in this role include the construction of | ||||||
16 | the City Hall offices (now the annex) and city fire stations, | ||||||
17 | the completion of the Constitution Trail, the Ironwood Golf | ||||||
18 | Course and Subdivision, and the College Hills Mall, the | ||||||
19 | redevelopment of 1 Normal Plaza, and the moving of the Amtrak | ||||||
20 | station in Bloomington to Normal; he was also proud to have | ||||||
21 | been involved in securing the Mitsubishi automotive plant in | ||||||
22 | Normal; after 29 years of service, he retired in 1998; upon | ||||||
23 | retirement, Ash City Park in Normal was renamed Anderson Park |

1 | to honor his accomplishments; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, David Anderson was an active member of St. John's | ||||||
3 | Lutheran Church in Bloomington and the First United Methodist | ||||||
4 | Church in Jonesboro; during his retirement, he was active with | ||||||
5 | the ICMA as a Range Rider, helping other towns find city | ||||||
6 | administrators; he was an active volunteer with Mended Hearts, | ||||||
7 | the United Way, and Safe Harbor; he was also an NEA Baptist | ||||||
8 | Hospital "Pink Lady" volunteer; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, David Anderson was preceded in death by his former | ||||||
10 | wives, Sandra J. Anderson and BJ Anderson; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, David Anderson is survived by his four children, | ||||||
12 | Greg (Glenda) Anderson, Shari (Steve) Mientus, Todd (Tammy) | ||||||
13 | Anderson, and Joni (Mark) McNabb; his nineteen grandchildren; | ||||||
14 | his six great-grandchildren; and all those who knew him as | ||||||
15 | Grandpa Dave; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | David Stanley Anderson and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
19 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
20 | further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
