SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John E. Gorsek of Springfield, who passed
4away on April 14, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Gorsek was born to Edmund Sr. and Elta M.
6Russell Gorsek in Springfield on May 5, 1930; he graduated from
7Lanphier High School in 1948 and then proudly served his
8country in the U.S. Navy; he attended Springfield Junior
9College and then LaSalle University, where he earned his
10bachelor's degree in Accounting; he married Marilyn L. Klemme
11in Springfield on October 20, 1956; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Gorsek first worked for Turnbull & Schussele
13Certified Public Accountants; in 1965, he and his wife started
14the public accounting firm, Gorsek Accounting, where he
15continued to be an advisor for the rest of his life; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Gorsek was a lifelong member of Elks Lodge
17#158 and St. John's Lutheran Church, where he served as an
18usher, a greeter, and helped with providing Meals on Wheels to
19his community; he was also a member of various professional
20organizations, including the Sertoma Club of Springfield and
21the Sangamo Club; and

1    WHEREAS, John Gorsek loved spending his free time listening
2to music, woodworking, and doing anything mechanical; he valued
3friendship, honesty, and determination and loved his family and
4friends, including his fellow church members; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Gorsek was preceded in death by his wife; his
6parents; and his brother, Edmund Gorsek, Jr.; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Gorsek is survived by his son, Kevin J.
8(Taran) Gorsek; his granddaughter, Alexis N. Gorsek; his
9sister, Norma J. Scott; his nieces, Sharon Houchen and Vicki
10Griffin; his nephews, Gary and David Baugh, Donald T. Klemme,
11Erick L. Klemme, and Kurt E. Klemme; and his many cousins,
12great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15John E. Gorsek and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of John Gorsek as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
