SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert L. "Bob" Volk of Bloomington, who
4passed away on April 1, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Volk was born in Springfield to Adolph and
6Bertha (Curry) Volk on May 23, 1939; he married Sharon C.
7Fathauer in Springfield on March 3, 1962; he served in the U.S.
8Army from 1962 to 1964; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Volk worked for Springfield Electric Supply
10Company for 39 years in multiple capacities, culminating in his
11role as senior vice president and district manager; he retired
12on December 30, 2003; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Volk served as a trustee for the Bloomington
14Township Fire Department and on the board of the American Red
15Cross of the Heartland; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bob Volk was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan; he
17enjoyed attending Illinois State University Redbird basketball
18games, deer and turkey hunting with his friends, and supporting
19the community in a number of ways; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bob Volk loved his family, especially spending

1time with his six grandchildren, and will be missed by all who
2knew him; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bob Volk was preceded in death by his parents and
4his sister, Bertha Hostick; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Volk is survived by his wife, Sharon Volk; his
6children, Melissa Hager, Jill Volk, and Scott (Abi) Volk; his
7grandchildren, Jeff and Jason Hager, Anne and Mark Volk Porter,
8and Connor and Zoe Volk; his sister, Frances Knox; and his
9several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Robert L. "Bob" Volk and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Bob Volk as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
