SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald E. "Don" Welge of Chester, who
4passed away on April 16, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Welge was born in St. Louis, Missouri to
6William H. and Rudelle F. (Fritze) Welge on July 11, 1935; he
7married Mary Alice Childers at St. John Lutheran Church in
8Chester on August 4, 1962; he served in the U.S. Army; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Don Welge was the president of Gilster Mary-Lee
10Corporation in Chester; he was with the company for more than
1160 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Don Welge served as an adviser for the School of
13Business at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale and
14Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau; he was
15also an active Louisiana State University alumnae with the
16School of Agriculture; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Don Welge was a member of St. John Lutheran Church
18in Chester; he was a director for the Buena Vista National
19Bank; he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Chester,
20Steeleville, and Perryville; he was passionate in supporting
21the Boy Scouts for more than 40 years and had been council

1president; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Don Welge was preceded in death by his parents;
3his brother, Bruce Welge; and his brother-in-law, Wib Saak; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Don Welge is survived by his wife, Mary Alice
5Welge; his sons, Robert (Paige) Welge and Thomas (Tracy) Welge;
6his brother, Mike (Betty) Welge; his sister-in-law, Julia Saak;
7his grandchildren, Austin Welge, Lauren Welge, Jackson Welge,
8and William Welge; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and
9friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Donald E. "Don" Welge and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Don Welge as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
