SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Walter "Wally" E. Griswold of
4Springfield, who passed away on January 7, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wally was born on August 4, 1941 in Plymouth to
6Giles E. and Pauline Bell Griswold; he graduated from Plymouth
7High School in 1959 and married Kathy Conley on November 5,
81970 in Rock Falls; he worked in retail grocery for Kroger and
9then Eagle Foods for almost 30 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Wally was an avid and successful youth sports
11coach and was also am Assistant Scout Master and a Scout Master
12for Boy Scout Troop 14; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Wally was a true child of the 50s who loved the
14New York Yankees, Mickey Mantle, John Wayne, and Elvis; he also
15enjoyed any activity with his family, especially hunting,
16fishing, and spending time in Florida and Wisconsin; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Wally could always be counted on for comfort and
18support; he never met a stranger, always enjoyed a good
19conversation with anyone willing to chat, and treated every
20person as if they were lifelong friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Giles
2and Pauline Griswold; brother, G.L. Griswold; and daughter
3Teresa Griswold; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Wally is survived by his wife, Kathy Griswold;
5sons, Jeff and Andy Griswold; daughters, Lisa Griswold and Amy
6O'Keefe; granddaughters Ariana and Katy; grandsons, Ty and
7Gavin; brother, Steve Griswold; and numerous nieces and
8nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Walter E. Griswold and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Walter Griswold as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
