SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Corradetti of Joliet, who passed away on November 24, 2019; and

WHEREAS, John Corradetti was born in Chicago Heights to Emedio and Dominica Corradetti; he graduated from Bloom Township High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radio calibrator for allied ships in Okinawa; after his service, he received a degree in business administration from Illinois State University and a master's degree from Northwestern University; and

WHEREAS, John Corradetti taught for over 42 years, first at Joliet Township High School and then at Joliet Junior College (JJC), where he taught business education and eventually became the business department chair; he also served as a teachers' union board member and union president for several years; and

WHEREAS, John Corradetti was the recipient of several JJC awards, including the Susan H. Wood Award; after his retirement, he continued to assist his colleagues by forming the JJC Annuitants Association; for seven years, he published quarterly newsletters for JJC retirees; his legacy continues with the John and Yola Corradetti Endowed Scholarship at Joliet Junior College; and

WHEREAS, John Corradetti loved the game of golf; he served as a caddy in high school at the Homewood Flossmoor Country Club, and for decades, he golfed every Sunday morning at the Woodruff or Inwood golf courses; he enjoyed painting, gardening, reading, and traveling; however, his favorite activity was spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, John Corradetti was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, the St. Paul Paulites, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, KSKJ, and The Old Timers; and

WHEREAS, John Corradetti was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Yolanda "Yola" Corradetti; his sister, Livia Zarlengo; and his parents; and

WHEREAS, John Corradetti is survived by his children, John (Jane) Corradetti Jr., June (Thomas) Doughty, Jean (Steven) Yates, and James (Mary Lee) Corradetti; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Dan) Manno, Stacy (Jason) Vitas, Nicole (Edward) Koncel, John R. (Michelle) Corradetti, Kate (Jay) Johnson, and Carolyn (Mark) Panici; nine great-grandchildren; and his brother, Raymond Corradetti; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John Corradetti and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Corradetti as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
