2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Elizabeth "Bette" Ann Rackauskas of |
4 | | Bloomington, who passed away on November 24, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas was born in St. Paul, Minnesota |
6 | | to Lt. Col. (USMC) Richard Karl and Harriet McCarr Davis; she |
7 | | graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Rolling |
8 | | Meadows and continued her education at the Cook County School |
9 | | of Nursing; she earned her registered nursing license at the |
10 | | St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in |
11 | | 1974; she married Dr. Gregory George Rackauskas on October 26, |
12 | | 1974; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas began her career at Cook County |
14 | | Hospital and continued with opportunities in Bloomington, |
15 | | where she and her husband started his private dental practice; |
16 | | throughout her life, she held many roles when working in |
17 | | medical practices, in interior design, and in her volunteer |
18 | | activities; she was generous with her time, her creativity, and |
19 | | her leadership skills; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas served her community as a Girl |
21 | | Scout Troop leader and an active supporter of the Central |
22 | | Catholic High School Parents Club; she helped raise funds for |
|

1 | | the American Red Cross; she was an appointed member of the |
2 | | Bloomington Planning Commission and a member of the |
3 | | Bloomington-Normal Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of |
4 | | Directors; she spent a decade as an elected official on the |
5 | | McLean County Board; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas was full of love and especially |
7 | | enjoyed cooking for her family; she welcomed everyone into her |
8 | | home and supported her children in all their endeavors; she |
9 | | made every holiday magical and loved teaching her children |
10 | | about their Lithuanian heritage; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas was preceded in death by her |
12 | | parents and her brother, CPT (US Army) Casey Davis; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas is survived by her husband of 45 |
14 | | years, Greg; her children, Analiesa (Michael) Dickson, Dr. |
15 | | Vanessa Rackauskas, CDR (US Navy) Preston (Bridget) |
16 | | Rackauskas, Jarrod (Kelly) Rackauskas, Dr. Cassandra (Cory) |
17 | | Matney, Lorelei Samuelson, Natasha (Brandon) Long, and |
18 | | Marshall Rackauskas; her grandchildren, Madeline, Paxton, |
19 | | Jack, Eli, Christianson, Ava, Clark, Harper, Clyde, and |
20 | | Josephine; her brothers, Michael (Doreen) Davis, Kelly |
21 | | (Debbie) Davis, and LTC (US Army) Patrick (Elizabeth) Davis; |
22 | | and her sisters, Mary Davis Schoneman, Terri (Rick) Kerwin, and |
23 | | Kathleen (Eric) Barr; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
3 | | Elizabeth "Bette" Ann Rackauskas and extend our sincere |
4 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
5 | | her; and be it further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Bette Rackauskas as an expression of |
8 | | our deepest sympathy.
