2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Anthony "Tony" Pinelli, who passed away |
4 | | on October 7, 2019 at the age of 71; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was born on August 28, 1948 to |
6 | | Anthony and Louise (DeGeorge) Pinelli, one of seven children; |
7 | | and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was the devoted husband of Karen |
9 | | (Korderka) and father of Anthony J.; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was a member of the Loyola Academy |
11 | | Class of 1966; he went on to earn his undergraduate degree from |
12 | | Loyola University Chicago and then his law degree from the |
13 | | Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Institute of |
14 | | Technology; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli began his legal career in 1973 as a |
16 | | Cook County Public Defender, working on misdemeanors, |
17 | | felonies, and death penalty cases; he then served as the |
18 | | in-house counsel to a large pension fund, where he focused on |
19 | | civil litigation before entering private practice; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli opened the Law Offices of Anthony |

1 | | Pinelli; because of his forty plus years of experience and |
2 | | diverse legal background, he was able to listen to a client and |
3 | | achieve the desired outcome; he was able to represent a wide |
4 | | range of clients but focused on matters of labor and employment |
5 | | law, civil litigation, licensing agencies, government |
6 | | agencies, and criminal defense; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was an adjunct professor at Loyola |
8 | | University Chicago School of Law since 1981; he specialized in |
9 | | trial advocacy and appellate law; when he was not in the |
10 | | courtroom, you could likely find him in his classroom; he was |
11 | | an excellent teacher, and his students respected him for his |
12 | | reputation as a top Chicago trial lawyer; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was the recipient of the highest |
14 | | Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent peer-review rating for legal |
15 | | excellence every year since 1986 in recognition of his |
16 | | professional achievements; he was named among the top attorneys |
17 | | in Illinois by Leading Lawyers; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was beloved by all and a respected |
19 | | adviser to family, friends, and clients; his continued success |
20 | | was a result of his work ethic and was proof of his dedication; |
21 | | he was an excellent attorney, and his legacy as a top trial |
22 | | lawyer will endure; he will also be remembered for his |
23 | | advocacy; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was a loyal friend, had a big heart, |
2 | | and was generous and kind; he was an incredible storyteller; he |
3 | | was dedicated to his family, and his humor and smile will be |
4 | | missed; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was preceded in death by his parents, |
6 | | Anthony and Louise; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli is survived by his wife, Karen; his |
8 | | son, Anthony J.; his siblings, Madeline Pinelli, Vincent (Sue) |
9 | | Pinelli, Mary Lou Kelley, Mary (Rod) Mellon, Richard Pinelli, |
10 | | Christina (Marvin) Baldwin, and Lawrence Pinelli; as well as |
11 | | many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
|
12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
14 | | Anthony Pinelli and extend our sincere condolences to his |
15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
16 | | further

17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 | | presented to the family of Anthony Pinelli as an expression of |
19 | | our deepest sympathy.
