SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Donald W. "Don" Bjerke, formerly of East 
4Moline, who passed away on October 15, 2019; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Bjerke was born in Rock Island to Elmer and 
6Geraldine (Doerres) Bjerke on June 15, 1943; he graduated from 
7Moline High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 
81962 to 1965 as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division; 
9he married Thora Mercer on November 28, 1994; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Don Bjerke retired from John Deere after 23 years; 
11he then worked for the U.S. Army of Defense as Production 
12Manager (Smart Ammunitions) for 20 years; and
  
 
  
13    WHEREAS, Don Bjerke was preceded in death by his wife, 
14Thora; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Don Bjerke is survived by his children, Charlene 
16Pfab and Ericka (Robert) Catterton; his stepsons, Mark and Kyle 
17Mercer; his grandchildren, Meaghan Pfab Connolly, Courtney 
18Pfab, Jacob Pfab, Kyle Phillips, and Jenna Phillips; his 
19great-grandchildren, Reagan and Rylee Connolly; and his 
20siblings, Robert (Judy) Bjerke and Nancy (Robert) Yantes;

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Donald W. "Don" Bjerke and extend our sincere condolences to 
4his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
5further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to  the family of  Don Bjerke as an expression of our 
8deepest sympathy.
