SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Vern L. Serres of Colona, who passed away
4on August 29, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Vern Serres was born in Moline to Raymond and
6Gwynievere (Havener) Serres on August 11, 1950; he served in
7the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970 and married Rebecca J.
8Branham in Moline on September 2, 1977; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Vern Serres worked as a fork truck driver for John
10Deere Parts in Milan for 30 years, retiring in 2006; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Vern Serres was a member of United Auto Workers
12Local 79; he enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and yard work;
13he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears; he was also a
14great story teller; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Vern Serres was preceded in death by his parents;
16his nephew, Mark; and his brother-in-law, Terry Guyton; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Vern Serres is survived by his wife of 41 years,
18Rebecca; his children, Burt (Deb), Matthew (Amber), and Eric
19Serres; his sister, Melody Guyton; 10 grandchildren; and eight
20great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Vern L. Serres and extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Vern Serres as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
