SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marvin E. Perzee of Ashkum, who passed
4away on July 17, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee was born in Watseka to Nellie
6(Koets) Perzee on October 9, 1942; he served in the Army
7Reserves from 1963 until 1969; he married Sharon K. Durst in
8Danville on September 21, 1979; he and his wife were well known
9throughout the state for their efforts to promote county fairs,
104-H, and agriculture; he was a fixture of the Iroquois County
11Fair for more than 50 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee was a member of many professional
13organizations, where he often served in leadership roles,
14including the Elks Club, the Moose Club, the American Hampshire
15Sheep Association, the Farm Bureau, the Iroquois County
16Extension Youth Council, the Legislative Committee for the
17Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs, the Department of
18Agricultural Advisory Board, the Advisory Board for the
19Division of Fairs and Horse Racing, the Illinois Association of
20Agricultural Fairs - Northern District, the State Fair Advisory
21Board, and the Carnival Safety Board; he was appointed to
22Attorney General Jim Ryan's Advisory Board; he served on the
23Board of Directors of the Iroquois County Agricultural and 4-H

1Fairs Association, as Vice Chairman of the American National
2Red Cross Fund Campaign, and as an Iroquois County Republican
3Precinct Committeeman for 29 years and Chairman for 14 years;
4he was the leader of the Ashkum Chargers 4-H Club; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee received many honors and awards,
6including the Outstanding Young Farmer Award from the Illinois
7Jaycees, the Iroquois County Extension Council Alumni Award for
8distinguished service, the Fairman of the Year Award from the
9Department of Agriculture, the Master Farmer Award from Prairie
10Farmer, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Watseka Times
11Republic, and the Farm Family of the Year Award from the
12Kankakee Daily Journal; he was inducted into the University of
13Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee was preceded in death by his mother;
15his brother, Wendell Perzee; his daughter, Karen Cox; his
16grandson, Zachary Rabideau; and his niece, Alana Perzee; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee is survived by his wife, Sharon; his
18brothers, Merle Perzee and Wayne (Cheryl) Perzee; his daughter,
19Kim (Robert) Rabideau; his son-in-law, Kevin Cox; his
20grandchildren, Quentin (Christy) Rabideau, Alex and Sean
21Rabideau, Jeremy Giles, Cory (Marisa) Giles, and Noah,
22Annalise, and Conner Cox; his great-grandchildren, Camden and
23Grayson Rabideau, Amina, North, and Ani Rabideau, and Cillian

1Giles; and his niece and nephews, Chrissy (Kevin) Marose and
2Aaron Perzee; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Marvin E. Perzee and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Marvin Perzee as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
