SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Damon Kelso Bradford, who passed away on
4May 25, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Damon Bradford was born in Macomb to George and
6Ruth (Kelso) Bradford on February 10, 1939; he graduated from
7Bardolph Community High School; from 1962 until 1964, he served
8as a heavy machine mechanic in the United States Army and was
9stationed in Thailand; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Damon Bradford worked for Woolworths and Farm
11King; he co-owned the Plainview Motel, the Frontier Supper
12Club, Damone's, and Scruples before working at the Illinois
13Tourism Fulfillment Center; he also campaigned for the
14Honorable Laura Kent Donahue; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Damon Bradford enjoyed interior decorating and
16painted and installed wallpaper for many people; he also
17enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River; a lifelong dancer, he
18participated in dance competitions with his sister as a child;
19his motto was "Life may not be the party we hoped for, but
20while we're here, we might as well dance"; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Damon Bradford was preceded in death by his

1parents; his sister, Marilyn Bradford; and his good friends,
2Esther and Willis Nielson; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Damon Bradford is survived by his sister, Darlene
4(Gene) Derry; his brothers, Duane (Mick) Bradford and Donald
5Bradford; his partner of more than 50 years, Roger Carmack; his
6many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Angel; therefore,
7be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Damon Kelso Bradford and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Damon Bradford as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
