SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James "Jim" "Cuz" Coussens, formerly of
4East Moline, who passed away on May 17, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Coussens was born in a farm house near
6Woonsocket, South Dakota to Alfred and Eva (Wingert) Coussens
7on March 19, 1930; he attended Coal Town Grade School, Rock
8Island District 47, and graduated from Moline High School in
91948; he served in the United States Army for two years, 18
10months with the 82nd Airborne Division; he married Violet
11Larson on May 17, 1952; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jim Coussens worked as a Lineman, Splicer's
13Helper, Installer Repairman, Central Office Tech, and Toll Tech
14for Illinois Bell; he retired in 1988; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jim Coussens was a member of the Moline American
16Legion, the Telephone Pioneers, and St. Anne Church, East
17Moline; he enjoyed traveling, fishing, growing tomatoes, 1950s
18music, and his computer; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jim Coussens was preceded in death by his parents
20and his brother, Wallace Coussens; and

1    WHEREAS, Jim Coussens is survived by his wife, Violet; his
2daughters, Patricia Brinker, Donna Curtis, and Linda Coussens;
3his two grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7James "Jim" "Cuz" Coussens and extend our sincere condolences
8to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
9it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Jim Coussens as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
