SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elbert Freeman Sr., who passed away on
4May 8, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Elbert Freeman Sr. was born in Emelle, Alabama to
6Gertrude and Louis Freeman on July 24, 1931; he committed to
7his faith at an early age at the Jones Missionary Baptist
8Church in Emelle, Alabama; while attending church, he met
9Ruthie Yarbrough; they married in 1952; they moved to St.
10Louis, Missouri and finally settled in Chicago; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Elbert Freeman Sr. worked in the Electro Motors
12Division at General Motors and retired after 27 years of
13service; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Elbert Freeman was a member of Mt. Pleasant MB
15Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher for many
16years; he later moved his membership to St. Mark MB Church,
17where he faithfully served as a teacher and was ordained a
18deacon; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending
19time with his grandchildren; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Elbert Freeman Sr. was preceded in death by his
21four sisters and his three brothers; and

1    WHEREAS, Elbert Freeman Sr. is survived by his wife,
2Ruthie; his daughter, Patricia (Donald); his son, Elbert Jr.
3(Stacey); his sisters, Fannie, Edna, and Mary (Wendell); his
4brother, James; his grandchildren, Marcus, Stacey, Jordan,
5Christian, and Gabriel; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins,
6and friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Elbert Freeman Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Elbert Freeman Sr. as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
