SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Gregory P. "Greg" Smith of Brimfield, who 
4passed away on May 20, 2019; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Greg Smith was born in Streator to George and Ida 
6(Schaefer) Smith Sr. on September 29, 1956; he married Patricia 
7"Patti" Rios on December 30, 2000; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Greg Smith worked at Exelon for 27 years; he then 
9became a real estate investor; he was also a professional bass 
10guitarist; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Greg Smith served on the Board of Directors for 
12America's Gold Star Families; he was a member of Northwoods 
13Community Church for almost 20 years and served on the Praise 
14Team; he was a devoted father and grandfather; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Greg Smith was preceded in death by his father; 
16and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Greg Smith is survived by his mother; his wife, 
18Patti; his children, Jonette (Greg) Russell, Jesse (Jessica) 
19Wenger, Stephanie (Travis) Canaday, Josey Wenger, and Tara 
20(David) Martin; his brothers, George (Lucille), Gerry (Donna),

1Gordon (Robin), Gary (Patricia), and Glenn (Ann) Smith; and his 
2many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5Gregory P. "Greg" Smith and extend our sincere condolences to 
6his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Greg Smith as an expression of our 
10deepest sympathy.
